Hearing Aid Styles

There are several styles of hearing aids available to meet different hearing needs and preferences.

Behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids are appropriate for individuals with severe to profound hearing loss and use a custom earmold for a secure fit and optimal amplification.

Receiver-in-the-canal (RIC) hearing aids are suitable for most degrees of hearing loss, are virtually invisible from the front and easily hidden by hair, and typically offer the best battery life and connectivity features.

In-the-canal (ITC) hearing aids are custom made to fit the ear and are appropriate for moderate to severe hearing losses; their larger size can also make them a better option for individuals with dexterity concerns.

Completely-in-the-canal (CIC) and Invisible-in-the-canal (IIC) hearing aids are custom made and fit deep within the ear canal, making them virtually invisible when worn. While these styles provide excellent cosmetic appeal, they generally offer fewer connectivity options and may not include rechargeable battery technology.

Hearing Aid Features

Rechargeable hearing aids offer a simple, convenient way to stay powered throughout the day. Leading technology provides a full day of use on a single charge, eliminating the need to handle or replace disposable batteries.

Artificial intelligence in hearing aids helps improve listening by reducing background noise and enhancing speech clarity, acting like a brain's natural filter to focus on important sounds. Many devices also include smart features such as activity tracking, balance assessments, and optional fall detection for added health and safety support.

Modern hearing aids connect directly to your cell phone for streaming calls, music, and other audio, and can be controlled through a smartphone app with features like "Find My Hearing Aid." This allows for easy adjustments to volume and settings right from your phone.

Accessories work alongside your hearing aids to provide extra support when you need it most and enhance performance in more challenging listening environments.

Hearing Aid Performance

Hearing aid performance is closely tied to technology selected and how well it matches your individual listening needs. During your hearing aid consultation, you will spend dedicated time with our Audiologist to discuss your lifestyle, daily activities, listening environments, and communication goals. Whether you frequently attend social gatherings, work in challenging listening situations, enjoy outdoor activities, or primarily need support in quiet conversations, these factors help determine which technology is right for you.

Our Audiologist will take the time to understand your activity level, priorities, and expectations for hearing aid performance, ensuring that the technology you choose is designed to perform the way you need it to—when you need it most.
