Our Florida Eye Specialists and Cataract Institute location is at 3115 West Swann Avenue, Tampa 33609, and our telephone number is (813) 492-2020. You can fax us at (813) 492-2099. Our office is located on West Swann Avenue, east of Henderson Boulevard before you reach South MacDill Avenue if you are coming from the west.
From the Hyde Park area, drive west to South MacDill on Swann Avenue. We are a short distance from the intersection of Swann and South MacDill Avenue. Our hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

Robert J. Applebaum, M.D., M.B.A. – Specializing in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, he also is skilled in cosmetic injectables. Dr. Applebaum grew up in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Tampa, FL. He attended high school at Berkeley Preparatory School. He then spent his freshman year at Georgetown University in Washington, DC before transferring to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he completed his bachelor’s degree in Public Policy with a specialization in Health Policy. He completed a combined MD and MBA program at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL, graduated in the top 1/3 of his medical school class and received the award for highest business school GPA. After medical school, Dr. Applebaum completed a one-year Transitional internship at the Virginia Tech/Carilion School of Medicine. He spent three years at the University of South Florida, where he completed his Ophthalmology residency (in June 2015). He then completed an additional year of fellowship training in Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the J. Justin Older Eyelid Institute.
Deen Gray King, M.D. – Specializing in Glaucoma and Cataracts, Dr. King earned his Bachelor of Science degree magna cum laude from Florida Southern College in Lakeland and his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa. He went on to complete an internship and residency in Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida. Dr. King then completed a fellowship in Glaucoma Research at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. A Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine since 1989, Dr. King has conducted numerous presentations at medical meetings and conferences. He has been in private practice since 1989 and a staff member at Florida Eye Specialists and Cataract Institute since 1992.
Selina Lin, M.D. – Dr. Lin was born in Hong Kong and raised in Jacksonville, FL. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Emory University in Atlanta, GA and returned to Florida to attend the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, where she earned her medical degree. Her post-graduate training began with an internship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. She completed her ophthalmology residency at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center in New York City, and served as Chief Resident in the final year. Upon completion of her residency, Dr. Lin moved home to Jacksonville to complete a two-year medical and surgical vitreo-retinal fellowship with the University of Florida College of Medicine at Shands University Hospital. Dr. Lin has been seeing patients in the greater Tampa Bay area for over 10 years.
Priya Mathews, M.D., M.P.H. – Dr. Mathews holds dual degrees from the University of Maryland, with a Bachelor in Science in Biological Sciences and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology while graduating valedictorian of her class. Earning her medical degree at the prestigious Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, she also completed a Master’s in Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Her post-graduate training consisted of an internship at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia and an ophthalmology residency at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City. After completion of her residency, Dr. Mathews pursued an additional year of training in Cornea, Refractive Surgery, and External Diseases at the renowned Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Her professional society memberships include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, International Society of Refractive Surgery, Global Sight Alliance, Women in Ophthalmology, and the American Public Health Association.
She has been granted multiple academic accolades and has published over 20 publications in top medical journals; topics have ranged from cataract surgery, infectious and autoimmune corneal disease, novel corneal transplantation techniques, Dry Eye Disease, and Global Health. Volunteering for medical missions in Haiti, Guatemala, India, the Philippines and Bolivia, she is passionate about continuing to expand the reach of Ophthalmic care throughout the world.
Dilip Rathinasamy, M.D. – Better known as ‘Dr. Samy’, he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Miami. He attended medical school at the University of South Florida and completed his internship in Newport News, Virginia before returning to the University of South Florida for his Ophthalmology residency. Dr. Samy specializes in cataract surgery. Using the latest techniques and technology, such as laser-assisted cataract surgery and advanced lens implants, he is able to restore vision in his patients and allow them to participate more fully in life. Dr. Samy also enjoys serving as an Affiliate Assistant Professor for the USF Residency program, helping residents learn and hone their skills as new cataract surgeons.
Pauline Thai, O.D. – Dr. Thai received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of South Florida here in Tampa, FL. Following her passion for helping people, she moved to Fort Lauderdale where she completed her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University. Her post-graduate training continued with an additional year at the William Chappell VA Outpatient Clinic in Daytona Beach, where she became residency trained in Primary Care and Ocular Disease. Dr. Thai spent the last 7 years working with a busy optometric practice in the Lakeland area before joining our team. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience diagnosing and managing complex ocular conditions. Dr. Thai is passionate about making a difference in the lives of her patients. Outside of work, she loves spending time near the water with her family and two fun-loving dogs!
